Default Installed Bose 12 CD changer and it doesn't work.

I used the three pigtail wires for power to the unit; they also feed a V1 and other circuits. The changer has power to it but no sounds out of the speakers. What did I do wrong?

there is also a 4 wire connector located above the BCM in the passenger footwell. if it's not there or if you have a '97 to '99 vette, check the tech tips section for instruction on installation.

The 4 wire connector was hooked up. The three wire pigtail has two connection possibilities with ground going to ground and both were tried; does anyone tap off these wires to drive other loads?

Oops, you're right.

the three wire plug has power, ground , AND data.

I believe it's the data connection that you are missing, checkout the tech tip on CD changer installation.

When I checked the 3 wires with a voltmeter, one was ground, one read +12 volts battery and the third wire read +12 volts with the ignition on. Have any of you tapped off any of the three wires to drive another load such as a radar detector or are those wires only for the remote CD?

You are using the wrong three point connector. The correct ones are positioned near the lower right of the fuse box. One is connected to the lower right and one is somewhat under the carpet taped to the harness with white tape.

I e-mailed the diagram that shows this to you. Hope this helps

I am putting a 12 disk (stock) changer in my 2002 vert. How did you mount
the changer. I have the stock brackets but it does not look like there are any
existing holes to mount it in the storage compartment.

I drilled 4 holes and used sheet metal screws; the plastic is very brittle.

Got the changer and cable installed. Works great. I drilled four holes 3/8 inch
and used rubber expansion plugs I got in the hardware section at ACE hardware. I used four 1 1/2 inch long 10/32 screws (with flat washers) to hold it in. I put it in the stock position in the well. :D :D :D

Thanks for the help! :yesnod:

Hi guys,

I found the male connector to plug into the wire harness. But how about the other three wires, orange, green and black? Where do they connect to?

I'm think the orange wire goes to switch 12+ volt, black wire goes to ground. But what about green?

Thanks
-Tuan

See the "tips" section; it has to be spliced to a similar green wire on the fuse block. GM is incredibly cheap in not installing both connectors.

Do you happen to know what is the green wire being used for?

Thanks

I think it's +12V when the ignition or ACC is on.

So, if you wire this green wire together with the orange wire, would the CD changer just be on all the time?

Thanks
