Default C5 front speaker arrangement

A number of folks on this forum have changed out the Bose system front speakers w/ another 8" sub and a 4" driver. I was getting ready to do this and made a template to use for cutting a new MDF speaker mount. In the process I noticed that only about half of the stock Twiddler is behind the speaker grille, the othe half is behind the door panel. While an 8" and a 4" will fit in the cut out, the 4" will be even more behind the door panel than the Twiddler. It seems like this will keep any speaker from sounding its best. Or, am I imagining a problem where none exists?

If your truely worried about sound imaging, two possibilities come to mind. 1. More power. 2. Fiberglass the 4 inch to hover about 20% over the cone of the midbass driver. Since bass waves are omni-directional and higher frequencies like straight waves this would compensate for the desired outcome.

That's true, and I'm in that exact process.

Made the mdf cutout and still have to decide on the 4" twiddler or weather to reuse it for my set up. It's a ~3ohm speaker and may be useable. I will experiment first to see what I like the best. I'm going with 6.5" as the main then perhaps the 4" and 1" tweeter on the pillar.
