Alpine MRP-M500. any one have one?

i recently purchased an Alpine MRP-M500 to power my sub. when i turn it up modertly loud the amp cuts off. i read the cust reviews on best buy and one guy said that he changed his power wire from 8 guage to 4 guage and the problem was fixed. they say their is an over load switch. does anyone know how to reset it because their is not one on the outside of the amp? please help
