stereo works great.........until i close the driver door 08 c6
dropped my car off a few days at my buddies house while i was on vaca in fl,
called today, he said everything sounds great, backup camera is working got the dvd on a switch so it works while not stopped.
so, i get in the car, turn it on great, shut the door, sound is gone????
i've got an 08 bose with onstar, the stereo is an OEM with navigation.
when the door is open, everything works, sounds great
what could the problem be???
i did notice, there is a chime when the door is open also now which wasn't there. he said that is an option on the box,
i bought it used, but i don't think thats the problem as it's working fine, backup camera i bought works great with it too.
the only thing that doesn't seem to be working is the speaker on the blue tooth
i call out, they can hear me, but i cannot hear them
any input would be great, also, this came out of an 06 car i just looked it up in the for sale section, don't know if the adapter for the 06 is diff for the 08
If you replace the head unit you need to use an interface like the Peripheral GMCO or GMAH24 to maintain proper functionality.
What I'm wondering is did you replace the head unit? You said it's OEM NAV and then you talk about DVD, which the OEM(factory) system doesn't support. If it's not factory NAV please give us the make & model. Did you install an amp?
It sounds like maybe your buddy skipped using an interface or used the wrong one or has the right one but hooked it up wrong. It sounds like in an effort to find a switched 12V circuit he tapped into the circuit for the lights that come on when you open the door. You close the door, the lights go off, the ACC power goes off and the head unit or amp shuts off.
OK - a question you need to ask this guy then - What brand and model of interface module did he use? It is REQUIRED when you replace the head unit.
If he can't answer that, he screwed up BIG.
by interface, i assume you mean the bose / onstar adapter?
i bought the stereo used off the forums here, it had everything with it already, so to be honest, i'm not 100% sure, it came out of an 06 which 05-08 call for the same adapter

Yes, that's the adapter/module I'm asking about. And yes 05-08 all use the same stuff and I'm fairly certain 09 does as well, but I don't have confirmation on that yet.
Did you keep the stock amplifier and speakers or did he install an aftermarket amplifier for you as well?

Without specifics on what that adapter was and how exactly he hooked it up, we're throwing darts at a wall here. It sounds like you have what you need, so that means the likely problem is an install mistake.
plain and simple like said before if the radio is staying on but not the amp odds are u need to tie ur remote wire to somewhere else
Since he's using the factory amp the interface module should be taking care of that without the need to tie off any additional wire. That actually could be the mistake the installer made, using a wire switched by the door to trigger the amp.
