Default Got my 5120 in!

Got my 5120 in and working in my 08 coupe. I only did a HU swap at this point, and everything already sounds better. Lots of tuning options with this unit; I like it.

Two questions so far:
1. I can't find this in the manuals, and haven't found a setting in the HU yet (if it exists), but is there a way I can adjust the volume on the voice for navigation prompts? She is LOUD. With the top off, she's telling the entire town what turns to make.

2. The dimmer. Think I did something wrong here. I took the head unit dimmer wire and tapped it into the gray (with black stripe) wire coming off of the traction control button, but nothing is happening on the HU when I turn the headlights on. That is the right wire, correct? It's possible that the vampire tap I used just isn't making the connection, so once I verify that's the correct wire, I'll remove that tap and splice the wires differently.

I think that's it for now! Now I've gotta see if I have the latest firmware, and find some cool backgrounds for it. I ordered an 8GB USB flash drive, too, for $20, so it's going to have a ton of music available. Love it!

as for the dimmer it just gets well only a little dimmer when you turn the head lights on.
I left this untapped in my dnx8120 as i like it brighter

I didn't realize the dimmer was a setting that had to be made; I'll check that first.

Not sure what beeps you're referring to. If you mean the touch screen acknowledgments, then no, they weren't overly loud.

I used GMAH24 with the GMAHCM chime module. Just matched all color coded wires except the dimmer; it wasn't hard.

I got em; it's actually not where you referenced.

For the nav voice volume, it's under AV interface options in the settings of the unit itself, and not in Nav mode. Found the dimmer, too; you can adjust how bright and how dim with lights on/off. Nice. Naturally, it was turned off.

Thanks!

No kidding. You would think it would be in the Nav settings, but I guess that would make too much sense.

You linked to the GPS manual. There is nothing in there that tells one how to adjust the nav voice volume. It's simply not in that manual. Chimes, warnings, etc are all in there, but the voice volume isn't. The setting for it is not in the GPS options anywhere; it's in the general radio options, under AV Interface Setup. It's in the DNX5120 manual, page 63. It's a very non-intuitive setting, and it should be in the nav settings. You access it when not in nav mode, which is why it's confusing.

I had the same issue, trying to adjust NAV voice. Finally found it by chance. The manual leaves a lot to be desired.

Let me know what you think of the Mem stick.

JMO, but the 5120 is a sweet all purpose HU. I would buy another one!

I didn't get my 8gb flash drive yet, but I'm using a 2gb one in the interim, and it's working just fine. Love that!

I do have one other question that I can't seem to find the answer to. I'm using custom background and startup screens. When playing a source like CD or USB, in the upper left corner, you can touch the screen to switch to background/wallpaper, essentially hiding the controls for a clean look. However, when I do this, the background that is displayed is not the one I have selected; it's a bluish factory background with some stars on it. I can't figure out how to get it so that it shows my normal Corvette logo background. Can anyone offer any insight on that one?

Thanks!

Already found the answer to that question, thanks. As I noted above, it's not in the Nav menu anywhere.

Seems silly that they'll let you show a wallpaper, yet it's not the wallpaper you have on your unit. Very odd. Not surprising, but odd.

Kinda makes having your own wallpaper a moot point, if it's always covered up with buttons and whatnot... you never really see the whole thing.
