Default removed radio now flashers won't stop !

First off, this is going to be more than a 1 afternoon job.

I finally got my factory radio out of my C5 today and after summing up the situation I figured that I will continue tommorrow. I reconnected the battery and drove the car into the garage.

As soon as the battery was reconnected the 4 way flashers went off and would not stop. So I disconnected the battery again and called it a day.

When I go to put the new radio in will the flashers stop?

If not what else can I do to stop the flashers? Is this automatic with a battery disconnect-reconnect?

HELP!
Dan

the flasher wiring harness is behind the radio and routed to the driver's side (where your right knee is when sitting) If you accidentally pinched, pulled or otherwise messed with that harness when removing the radio, this would cause the flasher to freak out.

Thanks. The button has seemed to move. I only removed the lower console but perhaps the upper dash moved and is pushing the button down.

Is there any chance that because the active handling control is unplugged from the center console that the flashers would go off? As instructed, the active handling control was unplugged to remove the center console.

Otherwise I may need to remove the entire upper IP cover to figure this out. I'm also checking the fuses.

Sorry, you're going to have to go digging. Accessing the back of the hazard switch will require removing a good majority of the dash.

Got it fixed. I removed 3 upper dash bolts. I then moved it around a bit and was able to get my fingers in through the radio cavity behind the flasher switch. Then I pushed it forward back into place.

And I got a bit of a surprise as I began installation of the radio........
