Pioneer AVIC Z-2 with Bluetooth and iPod units
Peripheral GMAH24B and GMAHCM
Everything has been working fine for over a year until today...
Okay Audio Guru's here we go..
I am randomly getting no sound from my stereo setup. I start the car stero come up normally, all chimes work but no sound from the stereo at all, on any input setting. (CD, FM, AM, iPod) But randomly, everything will start working, and when it works it will work until I shut off the car. Then the fun starts over again. On the way home it started working and I drove 20 min home with all working fine, shut off the car, restarted it and back to no sound.
Did all the basics, checked all connections, shook down all wiring, checked for chaffing etc. No luck..
I'm thinking the Blose amp is not powering up? So either my blose has gone bad suddenly or maybe the GMAH24B has gone bad and is not telling it to turn on? I know the GMAH24B is suppose to send the power signal to the blose amp..
Any idea here fellas????

You've done the proper troubleshooting and it sounds like you've come to the proper conclusions - it's either the Bose amp or the GMAH24B. short of spending money to replace the GMAH24B to find out the only thing I can think of is if you still have the factory radio hook it up and test. If the Bose amp comes on every time with that, it's probably the GMAH24B.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing today... Unfortunetly, the setup had been working so well in the past year I sold off the old factory stereo. At this point I am leaning towards buying another GMAH24B. Here is my thought process:
It worked fine for most of the day today, no issues what so ever. I drove to work, out for errands, and out to lunch, it wasn't until I hopped in the car to head home from work that it did its thing. So, I think the bose is working fine, just not being told to turn on all the time.
Any thoughts?? I'm definetly no expert on stereo stuff... Thanks for the help Komoman.

did you do what i posted... id check that white turn on wire right at the amp when its not working and see if there is 12 volts there or not.
just for the hell of it id pull the radio out and redo the amp turn on wire just to be sure its solid
I'll look into it.. have to locate a volt meter first. I don't have one. Thanks

Let me know if you want to get together and troubleshoot the system. We can 'bench test' the HU easily, and we should be able to tell if the GMAH24B is sending the 'amp-on' signal or not.
I'll be around all week and a little this weekend if you need/want some help.

Glad to hear about the new boat! Let me know if you want to put some tunes in that as well.
I'll be around all weekend... might go out shooting Saturday or Sunday morning. Otherwise I'm free. Just give me a call whenever you are free and want to tackle it.

Well we got it figured out today, Pentavolvo had it right on.
We checked the white power on wire and had 6 volts instead of 12.
For whatever reason over the past year the GMAH24B stopped sending 12 volts down that wire. Anyhow, we wired the amp turn on wire direct to the stereo and she works like a champ again!
Thanks Mark!

I'm just glad I had extensive knowledge from here on the forum, and a good friend to lend a hand.

I had a similar problem with the GMAH24B... are these things pieces of crap or what? I've replaced 2 of them in the past 6 months when they just randomly break...
