Default Question on my front stage.. Active or Passive

I am starting to install my system from my 89 into my 90. I am not having it set-up entirely the same but had a question ont he front stage.

My front stage is a CDT set-up TW24, CL-4 and EF-6. I have a set of 3 way CDT ES/HD 300 passive crossovers which I used in my 89 and sounded great to me.

now in my 90 I have a different amp and if I go active it will be an active passive set-up. meaning I will use the Satnet-400 X-overs for the TW24 and CL-4 then run the EF-6 actively crossed over on another channel fo the amp.

Now I know there is a lot more tuning involved with active.. so my initial thought is passive, but if i do that I could run extra wires from the crossover located to the back if i decided to go active..

Thoughts?

which speakers are you putting where? I'm not familier with those model numbers. can you provide the name of the maker?

I can tell you more once i understand what equipment you're working with.

MHO, there's some time taken to set up the crossover points, but using them creatively can lend to less work on the EQ later.

sure..

Speaker and passive X-overs are CDT Brand

TW24 = Tweeter
CL-4 = 4"
EF-6 = 6.5"

6.5 will be midbass in the door
4" and tweet will be in the lower OEM location next to the frame rail ( remember this is a C4)

the Amp has 4 channels.. thoughts were:

bridge to 2 channels, use 3-way passive on each side

lOr Non-bridged, one channel for the tweet and 4" and the other for the 6.5 on each side. the tweeter and 4" would use the Satnet-400 2-way passive X-over. (tweeter and 4" passive with 6.5" active)

do you have charts for those? its good to know if you are going to head into nasty breakup and not realize it.

Since most CDTs are just repainted and price pumped Vifa/tymphany drivers, you might be able to find the equivalent chart.

CDT might also provide it, they are usually very helpful.

I"m planning something similar for mine: Tweets wil get their own channels off the rear amp, and the 5.25 and 6.5 midbass will get briged power from my front 4ch, then i'll use a passive xover to split the5.25 and 6.5

personally, I'd run the midbass with its own power, so it can be adjusted apart from the rest of the system. it will be much easier to get powerful sounding midbass.

i would explore other tweeters besides cdt's. you may find something you like better and cheaper. maybe the vifa tweet that spkrboy recommends or the seas neo that kale seems to like

sorry, my last post was confusing.. I HAVE all the speakers, TW24, CL-4 and EF-6

I don't have the spec sheet for the TW24, but have the spec sheets for the CL-4 and EF-6.

my front stage of all the CDT speakers and the 2 crossover sets I have cost me only $200 and all but the CL-4s were new these speakers were in the 89 with the 3-way passives

Have you considered putting the 6.5 speaker in the stock location, and the mid and tweeter in the door? Have you ever seen pictures of Andy Bogus's setup in his car?

With the highs down that low, you will never hear them.

Randy

Yes that has been considered.. now when I had this in my 89 (4s and tweets low) it sounded really good.. I am going forward with the speaker location because i know the speakers will fit. I get a lot more depth in the door then I would in the floor area which is why the highs are going in the lower part. I can change it if i desire but I am going to try this first.

now any answer to the original question?
