Default Now i need an amp...

Well now i have speakers: Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS
And i have a brand new 10 idq v3 dual 2 ohm coming

now i just need an amp, i really like the eclipse xa4000 for the look and power (125x2 to the fronts and 350x1 bridged to the sub) but i kind of want something with a bass knob as i sometimes find myself in the mood for more or less subs depending on my mood or the song.

I also have to figure out how to mount this thing where its a nice clean install but doesnt cost me a fortune and allows me to install the targa, i could have traded my subs for a 12 but i figure the 10 will be enough

I dont think that will be enough to drive the sub. Im using a 450/4 for my C5-650's and XR-525's but Im using a 300/2 to power my sub. He would probablly want 150w each to power the fronts(gain set properly) that only leaves 150w bridged for the sub.

yeah i just noticed that, i thought it was a 150x4 amp, strange amp that the back channel only does 150 bridged

Here is the info I got online....

Quote:
# Channels 1 and 2:
* Rated Power (stereo mode): 150W RMS x 2 @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm (11V-14.5V)
* Rated Power (bridged mode): 300W RMS x 1 @ 3 ohm-8 ohm (11V-14.5V)

# Channels 3 and 4:
* Rated Power (stereo mode): 75W RMS x 2 @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm (11V-14.5V)
* Rated Power (bridged mode): 150W RMS x 1 @ 3 ohm-8 ohm (11V-14.5V)
Use the front channels (bridged mode) to power the sub. 300w is enough for that sub.

Use the rear channels to power the speakers. The Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS has a 50w RMS. So 75W RMS x 2 @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm is more than enough.

But if it is out of your price range, let me see if I can find something else.

even though the pioneers are rated at 50 watts rms people usually throw at least double that on them, some that run them active recommend at least 100 rms to the mid alone so id like at least 100 to the fronts as well. If only that eclipse had a bass knob, i may still end up getting it as appearance and performance wise its exactly what i want

It is true that you would rather over power a speaker then under power, but double power is a little over the top. (IMO)

This might work for you.

they shouldnt have been rated at 50w, they are power hungry speakers

ALWAYS keep in mind that those ratings have nothing to do with the speakers capability and everything to do with warranty. A well built speaker can handle a ludicrous amount of power so long as that power is CLEAN. In general, for a typical 6.5 2-way component I wouldn't want to feed any less than 75W per and you'd more likely be happier with 150 per to give you the dynamic headroom. Focus on the quality of the amplifier and your results will be far better.

The Alpine PDX 4.150 can be had for $450 gray market and would do a helluva job. It's what I ran in my Vette until replacing with my Zapco DC1000.4 and will be driving a pair of 6.5's and a 10" sub in my Avalanche as soon as I get around to finishing off the install... ya know... some day.

i heard great things about the eclipse xa4000 as well and its power rating is very similar to that of the alpine and i dont think the alpine has a bass knob either

125x2 and 350x1 for the eclipse, class d amp

150x2 and 300x1 for the alpine, class d amp

question for people that have the alpine, can the top face be rotated? for example if i wanted to mount the amp upright id want the top of the amp to be the part without the wires but i wouldnt want the front pannel to be upsidedown

even though im not crazy fond of the looks, my best option so far looks like the Kicker 08ZX650.4 4 channel if i want the bass knob, does 120x2 and 325x1 and it comes with a birth sheet and they are usually underrated so that should be plenty of power
