Default XM install location question?

I had the XM installed on my Alpine W205 but I didn't want the antenna showing. So, I had the installers put it upside down next to the rear view mirror on the passenger side on top of the little black dots on the windshield. Do you guys think I will get normal reception? It's been cloudy today and the reception has gone in and out. I have not tried it on a clear day. I would think it would work fine through the windshield upside down but I dunno.

Or take the two screws out of the tail light, stick the antenna to a small square of metal (thats what the manufacturer recommends, that it be attached to metal) and tape it to the underside of top of the rear tail section (so it winds up facing up, taped to the fiberglass next to your rear deck emblem). Works fine from there.

Perfect!

That's just what I did today and it was a great spot, thanks for the tip.

I take it back

Spend about two weeks testing it out and it sucks. It cuts out like crazy. If I move my hand close the antenna it will cut out, so it is super sensitive.

Once I have some time, I am going to place it on the roof, directly pointed to the sky.
