Default head unit - Ipod problem

In my 04 vert, I had installed a Pioneer GPS unit, AVIC-N4, which support Bluetooth telephone and the connecting of an Ipod to use as an external disk player. All works well except the Ipod, which is an Apple Classic, 80GB, software version 1.1.1PC. iTunes says the ipod is up to date, and I checked the box that says "enable use as disk player". When I connect the Ipod to the Pioneer unit using the correct recommended cable, the unit recognizes the Ipod, displays the Ipod control screen, but nothing on the touch screen works. After a few minutes, the Pioneer displays an error message, AO. I can't find that message translation anywhere. If it is an authorization message, meaning that the Pioneer does not recognize that Ipod, I can't find anywhere to register the Ipod with Pioneer so that can be used. There isn't anything in the literature that I have found to be helpful. Any suggestions? Thanks
Vince

I would try another IPOD and see if the problem persist.

uncheck this box: "enable use as disk player" and synchronize your files with itunes again. Depending on how you've layed out your files, you may have to wipe out the ipod and resync with itunes again. Make sure you do not have check that box.

Thanks for the input. I'll give it another shot tomorrow. I have emailed Pioneer's "help" people, still no response.

I'm about to install D3 and have been reading whatever I can on the subject. I think the suggestions above should help you, but the ipod classic will not play video on the pioneer, you need older ipod 5.5 version or older.
