do the high end speakers look kinda crappy. Granted they put performance above appearance but it's just strange to see something like Seas woofers resemble something out of a wal mart stereo.

Many are low on the bling factor. They target an audience who hears music with their ears, not their eyes.

Actually now that I look again, the seas high end stuff IS pretty.

But there are PLENTY of "pretty" high end speakers.
Focal
Dynaudio
Rainbow

to name a few.

The revelator doesn't have a blingy cast basket, but it hardly looks low rent. (aside from the terminals.)

Looks have exactly nothing to do with sound quality. In car audio circles, generally the more attractive something is the worse it performs. Many of the things companies do to make drivers cosmetically attractive are exactly the things that hurt performance. Subs are an excellent example.

Mine look good, but you may not consider them high end.

I'll assume you're talking about strange dust caps and such.

I've alwasy been curious about the wave guides Alpine introduced in 03 (could be wrong on the dates) The look cool yes, but do they hurt performance?
