Other small amps that have clean output and pack a punch?

The two most commonly seen are the Alpine PDX series and JL's upcoming response to those, not sure of the model numbers. I have a PDX-4.150 tha t I used in my C6 until recently, when I replaced with an Xtant X604. The PDX are very solid performers and it's hard to beat the package size. The Alpines are class D and their digital circuitry makes them extremely flexible in that they deliver the same rated power from 4 ohms all the way down to 1. I have absolutely no qualms with using them, particularly for sub amps(there's a 1.600 and I think a 1.1000 available) but for driving primary speakers I prefer the sound of a traditional class A/B amp, just warmer to my ears. Strictly personal preference there. JL's look like they're going to have the same sort of form factor and flexibility.
The nice thing about these amps is you can stuff 'em in one of the cubbies. They not only fit, but they don't run all that hot so you don't have to worry much about them If you install more than one in a cubby I'd vent for sure. One of the guys at PFYC had a custom cubby cover done for his car and said it would be fairly easy to get more.
