Default How do I wire 2 4 ohm subs to show the amp 2 ohms?

I'm confused about the whole series and parallel thing when it comes to speaker wiring. I have 2 8", 4 ohm, SVC subs that I want to run with a sub amp that is rated for 400 watts at 2 ohms. How do I connect the subs? Is it A) pos box connector to sub 1 pos, sub 1 neg to sub 2 pos and sub 2 neg to neg box connector or B) a separate wire from each post of the box connector to the corresponding posts on each sub.

Yup. Paralleling two 4 ohm speakers results in a 2 ohm load.

If you would like to learn about it, I'll try to explain it here.

Think of the amp/wiring as your house plumbing. The voltage is the water pressure. If no water flows, no work is done. Now say you hook up a "4 ohm" water nozzle. Water flows (current) and you get your plants watered. Simple, right?

Need more water, just add more nozzles. (parallel) In an electrical connection, + is connected to + while - is connected to - for a parallel connection. More current can flow from two speakers (nozzles) this way.

If you were to wire them in series, it would be + to - to + to - across the speakers. You send 1/2 the "pressure" to each speaker.

Does this make sense to you, or would you like more clarification?

Mark
