Hello everyone. Ok so I notice this weird sound coming from my speakers, the sound goes away if the car is turned off but if the car is turned on you can hear this wwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii sound at idle and as the rpms climb the sound gets louder. A friend told me it was the grounds on my amps and deck, so then I added some extra grounds but it still won't go away; it gets more annoying every day. Does anyone know what it could be? Thanks, Albert.
99.9% chance that fixes your problem.
Instead of splicing into the black ground wire i just run my groudn wire from the rcas to a screw on the headunit chassis

ok guys, i did what you told me and it did not change anything. so im guesing its the deck, i think im going to go ahead and purchase a alpine deck, unless you guys can think of anything else.

btw the pioneer deck is a DEH-P7900BT
so use a different input to the amps, like an ipod or cdplayer or something.
you say "grounds" there should be only 1 ground. A grounding block is ok, as long as all amps are grounded to the same location.
different input... hook a portable cd player to the amps. or an ipod or something.
see if it still whines.
ok i got a input for the ipod, hooked it up and the weird sound goes away, i am useing a grounding block but they are all connected to the same location. looks like im buying a new deck
You dont need to buy a new deck as the problem is most likely in your RCA cables going to the high amp. some fixes to try:
1. run a 18ga ground wire from the deck ground to the amp ground location so all the eqiopment is grounded in the same spot.
2. move the RCA cable path in the car from front to back if its near any factory wire looms or the power wirees for the amps
3. change the ground location for the amps to another spot ( the other side of the car, under a seat bolt, etc. so theres a good ground potential back to the battery).
4. get a GLI (ground loop isolator) and put it in the RCA's behind the deck (these will usually solve the problem but change the sound a little bit so its a last resort in my opinion even though its the easy way out)
There are many reasons you can get "alternator whine" but from what you described you should be able to fix it without too much time or expense.
