Re: Mounting Kits for 1993. Din, din1/2, or double din (Crusher137)
Its a double din hole. There are kits available. I don't have web sites on them. Most shops carry a couple of different ones. You will probably have to file the dash opening to make a deck fit. Buy a new one and file that and keep the original new. They cost $40 and you can get them from GM. Try 18carfan.

I had to cut mine. 92TripleBlack is right just buy another one. There is a "Buy Now" of a brand new trim pannel on ebay for 31 bucks. Search car parts/interior for corvette and you will find it. I suggest you wait for the end of the auction as I bought one at 31 and now there is another up for sale, so he has several of them. It shipped asap and it arrived in perfect condition. So save 5-10 bucks and a couple of trips to the dealer :)

Last time I checked at my dealer the radio trim piece was only $26.95. They aren't always as high as people make them out to be. The console lid was $100 less than what MidAmerica wanted.
Re: Mounting Kits for 1993. Din, din1/2, or double din (R94 LT 1)
How much is the console lid????? I took mine apart to fix the latch, which I did, but many of the plastic molds the screws go into are cracked. It's only a matter of time before it breaks again. Also does it come with the leather cover or is it just the underlying plastic part?
Re: Mounting Kits for 1993. Din, din1/2, or double din (Jay Axson)
Last time I checked at the dealer it was $119, about $100 less than what Mid or Ecklers gets. I may take mine apart some time and see about refinishing it myself.

Does anyone make mounting kits for after market systems or do you have to fabricate it youirself. If so who is the manufacturer?
i did my own mods. the trim panel does not need to be trimmed if you get a head unit with a shallow enough depth (front-rear distance). i was not lucky and had to eat through about a 1/4" into the trim. looks okay, though.
as far as the actual mounts for the head unit to the console, i just asked for some "straps" from the store where i bought the head unit. they gave them to me for free. these straps are just narrow strips of metal with holes drilled in em. kinda like an erector set piece. i just cut and bent the pieces, then attached them to the head unit with included screws. here's some pics:
it wasn't has hard as i originally thought. just take your time since there are some funky angles involved.
if you get a single DIN like i did, you can buy a little cubbyhole to fill up the open cavity and use for CD storage. i bought one myself but still haven't figured out a good way to attach it. in the meanwhile i temporarily have a painted piece of acrylic hot glue gunned to the trim plate.
Re: Mounting Kits for 1993. Din, din1/2, or double din (tempest)
Good advise Tempest. There is more than one way to skin a vette. I have mine mounted on the so it is flat to the dash. Sticks out about 1/4" but looks good. I filled the rest of the hole with black ABS plastic. Cost me the cost of the pannel and nothing else. I'm eventually gonna add a pop out tv. No need, just because. If you do it this way it also leaves more room for the wires behind making that part easier also.
