its' funny, unless i run the filter to all components and kill the bass, the speakers distort like crazy. The door speakers make "popping" noises. WEIRD. Oh well, thats why I have a sub!!!

I just completed a very similar setup but utilized a Pioneer head unit and a 5 1/4 and 6*9 in combo.

For the doors, I used a 1/8 in sheet of Lexan to flush up the surface for mounting. I removed 2 of the 4 wires that originally run through the door and disconnected the amp. I used the 2 remaining wires for my speaker connections.

I am curious as to your speakers distorting like crazy...are they crummy speakers, did you leave the amps in, or what gives? at 2/3 volume with a fade of 5% to the rear, my whimpy MTX doors are distortion-free with Metallica pumping out. It is about the only part of the car I have had luck with. -Matt-

I dont know, maybe they arent really distorting, the bass just sounds like crap after I got used to my sub. I'm using infiniti front speakers, only $100.

Focals, exactly. Just not sure if i want to upgrade amps, or components first. and if components, speakers or subs?
