Default 'portable ' gps

i know zero about gps units although there was one in a rental car we used last year [and my wife was successful in working it] . i want a unit that can move car to car with no hassle . i don't want to have to cut and solder wires when switching cars . in other words i want to say 'which car are we taking'' and grab the gps and go . is this possible ? we want one that has ''voice prompts'' for lack of a more correct term . i'd also like to know what to buy and suggestions of where to buy . lastly i'm looking at lower end of market like a couple hundred dollars , is this possible ? thanks.........peace......bc......p.s. probably be helpful to know units to avoid also ...p.p.s. KEEP IN MIND I AM TECHNOLOGICALLY "CHALLENGED"

"Garmin" has a portable unit Model #c330 for $189, that has voice prompts and is very easy to use. I bought two of them in the last year for my dad and brother in law and both liked it a lot. You just plug it into the cigarette lighter and turn it on.

Garmin is the best software out there, hands down. Compare their model line for features and pick the one that works for you.

i decided to look at garmin on wifes computer and now i'm really confused . i don't understand how there can be so many different models . also i didn't realize how small the screens were ,a little over 3inches diagonally . i guess the only upside is i'll never figure out how to use it when we do get one . ..thanks again for responses .

garmin and magellan , are they similar quality ? magellans seem to have larger screens on there low end product which i find a desirable feature .
