Removal of OEM stereo

Since you appear to have 2 Vettes of different generations, you might want to specify which one you're asking about.

c4: undo all visible screws, pull panel off, a couple bolts/screws hold in the radio.

c5: undo the 4 10mm nuts, 2 found under the armrest, 2 found under the little trim panel that usually has the traction control/ride control on it.

3 screws, one under the little vent thing to the left of the ignition, two in the ash tray area. Push the arm rest/box assembly back and up, slide out the center console. Lots of wires to disconnect.

undo the 4 bolts/screws holding radio in. 7mm socket required. some kinda torx too.

As much as I dis-like referring people to the FAQ but I guess this time I myself will have to. If it's a C-4 there is an excellent link for removing the head unit in a C-4. Check it out. One of the best articles on head unit removal I've ever seen. There was one thing missing in the article at least for my CE. I had to remove the 4 screws holding the center console lid on. I had to remove it in order to get the shifter bezel off. When you do that, be careful because there is wiring attached to the back of the console lid to support the light in there.
