FAQ Question

OK, Just to prove I read the C4 FAQ I have tried to answer a question and ended up with more questions. When looking at the wiring chart "General Motors 1979-Current" It shows 2 Yellow Wire's under the OEM column. One for "Ignition/Accessory" and 1 for "Rear Left - " . Which is it? I have spent days ADVANCED SEARCHING the archives and assumed I needed an OEM Aftermarket Stereo converter in order to keep my existing Bose Amp and speakers on my 96 C.E. VERT. When I called CarToys to purchase one, they said I don't need one on the 96 Vert . Is this ? Someone please tell me if I need an OEM converter and part # if possible. if your car has bose and you are trying to replace the stock radio with aftermarket and keep the rest of your bose then yes you need an adapter, without research i couldnt tell you which one

Any information is helpful. Thanks for at least letting me know I need an OEM converter!

Honestly for 100 bucks more then the converter costs you could replace all 4 speakers and it would sound 10000x better then the bose ever did

You may be onto something. According to the FAQ I think I can pull the cable cluster off of the Reciever but I would still have to pull new Speaker wires Correct? Can I use the cable between the reciever and new Head Unit or would that have to be repulled also?

Yes, metra makes a wire harness to connect an aftermarket reciever to the bose harness so you can get 12V, switched 12V, ground, antenna, etc. Then you would just need to run new speaker wires. You will also need a GM antenna adapter.

The speaker/amps are the crappy part of the Bose. Changing HU and keeping Bose speaker/amps is a bad idea.
