So after posting a thread about some advice on replacement speakers for my C6, I've gone through and ordered a set of speakers.
I've decided to replace both the front and rears, even though many of you have mentioned that there's no real benefit of them in the C6 cabin. I guess it's just one of those things for me, I already spent the $$ on the sub/amp and I'm bothering to replace the fronts. Maybe it's a mental thing, but I'll feel like I have a more "complete" sound. Also I found great speakers at a nice discount being they were open box (but never installed).
I haven't ordered an amp yet, but I've found a JL 300/4 from Sonic Electronics online for $320 that I'll probably end up ordering shortly.
Tweeter says they can do the install of everyone, including fabrication of the things to fit the components into the existing BOSE locations, along with adding some Dynamat around them, with all the adapters/parts for $250.
All in all I think that's pretty reasonable. Tweeter would have charged over $1000 just for the parts, so I think getting them online will work out nicely. In the end I'll probably end up paying what they would have wanted just for parts and be out the door.
I'll be sure to post updates as I get the stuff installed and so forth. As always, thanks again to all those who helped point me in the right direction!

And at the risk of sounding self-serving, I'd have reservations about the big box folks too. Unless you know the installer or have used him before it's a crapshoot.
Ya, I actually showed the kid at Tweeter the link to Pipe's stuff and he said that is basically what he would make, but he mentioned using some kind of plastic something or other, and also mentioned using some Dynamat to help reinforce the sound within the enclosure and whatnot...
ok sound deadner in the door thats a good thing. He was gonna use 1/4" or 1/8" abs plastic probally which honestly is way too thin for something like this. For the tweeter its fine but for the woofer you want atleast .5 to .75 mdf wood properly treated, or pipedreams stuff

I did installs for a large retailer myself. The best thing to do is go there and find out who does the best work (ie. takes their time, double checks their work, and is not prone to breaking things). Then go talk to that person and make sure your install is setup to be installed by that person.
Let him know your intentions and how you are looking for a clean, high quality install, and not a rush job. Be honest with the guy and let him know that you don't mind giving a nice tip for quality work.
If after talking to that person, if you don't feel like they know what they are doing or seem hesitant to take on the job, then I would recommend taking your business somewhere else.
That's why I generally went to Tweeter. It's a much smaller type store than Best Buy or CC, and they only have one installer. However, the guy that has done work on my cars in the past (3 of them) is no longer there. He left a couple months ago it seems to take a job at a hospital (was a student and now has his perm. job)
I talked to the replacement briefly and he seemed to know what he was talking about. He also knew the previous dude.
So basically, this store just has the one installer who handles pretty much everything, so I would think he takes things a bit more seriously than someone at a larger store. At Tweeter, he's solely responsible for the installs, so I'd think he'd view it as a more important role for him at this place.
Either way, I think I'll end up going there with my parts and let him do it. He might be upset I ordered all the stuff online after he showed it to me in the store, but I'll end up saving like $400 this way so oh well. The only thing they might give me problems with would be their usual guarantee on the install being that I'll be using stuff not from their shop.
But even still, the Stealthbox and JL Amp in my C6 now I didn't buy from them, but had them install. When I switched C6's they did the removal for no charge and gave me a break on the reinstall in the new one.

Sounds like you did your homework. The sales guys might be upset with you(who cares), but the installers don't usually seem to give a crap about where you bought the stuff.
