Default Hottest Single DIN out right now...

I had the Alpine 9835 and went to an alpine IDA-x100 (the ipod one). I was disappointed with the lack of sound quality features it had compared to my 9835 (which i think is the god of radios pretty much). Is there anything semi close to that out now? Good clean cool looking display, time correction, built in EQ, things like that?

It's very similar to the 9835.

I really like it. Yes, it does stick out a lil, but im ok with that. Screen is plenty big & it saves a lot of work & expense of a double.
I just had installed last week & im very satisfied.

Might want to look at the Eclipse CD7100. I have not heard anything negative about it and it seems to be a continuous improvement over previous products...

That thing is seriously cool. I'd love to have one in my Cherokee.

I have the CD5000 now. You have to purchase the GPS unit from Eclipse (seperate module) to interface with the HU. How it works is you go to their website (e-serv) and load your trip parameters. You then download the data to a CD-R or memory stick and download to HU. Probably not the best system if you plan on using the NAV everyday, but for me, the occasional trip is well-suited for this.

Yes- my understanding is that you have to get a HU with a hard drive (memory) if you want full-time NAV. Unless you use your Vette for sales calls, how often do you really use this feature?

right. it looks like a pretty cool deck, but to much $$$ for a non-full functioning nav.

I bet you would be hard-pressed to find a better deck at this $$$ with better audio though. That's what originally drove me to the Eclipse moniker in the first place (I am no expert FWIW)
