Default Mounting/Securing Sub Enclosure in C6 – how to?

Installation gurus..

I would like to hear suggestions on how to well secure a surface enclosure to the deck in the cargo area. I plan to have a 12”x20” (footprint) enclosure to house a 12W7. Yes, this box will be quite heavy and I want it secured in the cargo area up front as opposed to the rear area. I will have mini amp racks on either side of the sub for my JL500.1 and JL300.2 amps and will need to secure these as well.

I’ve seen a few posts suggesting use of liquid nails to bond wood to the deck and then screw down the amp racks through the carpet into the wood.

Drilling directly through the deck is probably not an option (not sure I could gain access from underneath anyway).

Maybe metal brackets could be glued to the deck and then up through the carpet to secure the rack/box to. Don’t know..

Anyway, any suggestions are appreciated. With the number of cool audio installations out there, there has to be a “good” way of securing these things.

Please – no suggestions for duct tape

Thanks

Gluing to the deck and securing with screws is definitely the most common way it's done. Also I know there's an area in the vert behind the trunk partition where you can kinda hook the wheel wells and I think there may be a small amount of space for that purpose on the coupe too.

The combo of gluing to the floor, mount with screws, press-fit between the wheel wells should leave your sub & amp racks well secured.

Velcro. You only need the one side of the velcro. You can secure them to the wood base with screws and glue. Each corner should have a strip and then the centre of each side. With the weight on the base, once you put it in, it won't go anywhere. Provided you let the velcro sit on the base carpet in the cargo area and not on a cargo mat.

...until you have an accident, that is. That's when the "strength" of Velcro is tested and you find that it's not going to withstand the force of a collision.

Not to be a party pooper... but that's what can happen. I realize that the Velcro will keep it from sliding around, but in an accident it becomes a flying projectile.

Maybe I'm getting too old for car audio?

(I have a loose speaker box in the back of my C5 now... so maybe not. )

Thanks for the posts so far. I really want to secure the goods the best that I can. I plan to lay down the exoticvette's insulation layer on top of one layer of damplifier-pro so I'll already have the carpet removed. Just trying to understand the best methods to "bolt" everything down without actually using bolts through the deck.

FHR is absolutely right, and I know no one wants to think about it, but it's necessary. Velcro does squat. I have plenty of pictures of people killed by stuff flying around in a car crash that will change anyone's mind.
