Front Speaker Mount wedge C5

Do most people just mount the front speaker flat?

kale, Had his at a angle with some type of wedge.

I'm guessing it's better to do it.

If it is, How is the best way of doing it?

This is what he's talking about.

It's done by making a ring, and taking a belt sander to it. I like my fingers, so I paid someone else to do it.

They made mine for $40. (double the normal price.) Tell them Brian sent you. (The first guy they did this for.)

I think these helped slightly, but my mids only play up to 1khz, where off axis response is very strong anyway.

You can also make a ring, and mount the ring itself at an angle using long screws and washers. Then spray expanding foam in the cracks to seal it up. i did this in another car, and it worked great.

Er - make sure the speaker is not IN it when you do this!

you can also make your own using layers of 3/4"MDF

for the passenger side, a 30deg angle will put the axis nearly dead on to your head. Drivers side is a little less but you do get a little better sound.

I made mine with 20 degrees on the 6 1/2" and put 45* on the tweet and pushed it out to the grill. It sounds awsome.

Those are the new pioneers (720prs). I just installed a set in my vert and they sound great. I also angled my tweeter, but I used the 30/70 degree supplied cup.

Yes, mr. peebody is correct. I put in 2 sets, but only have tweets in front. The rears are xed over a little lower. The write up in car audio says how great they are, but you've got to hear these for your self. I also used the supplied cup,,,, with a little messaging.

Those baffles look great, are they machined or hand cut?

Thanks Kale, all hand cut then messaged on my 6" belt sander for the 20* wedge. Glued and screwd with rounded edges and a little bondo in the corners for aesthetics and of course flat black for stealthness

I do take too much time in my planning and research, and also my build, but I'm always happy with the outcome.

Did you use a circle cutting attachment to make the bottom part and "ears" so perfectly?

Well I now have a scroll saw and band saw, but they came after this install. They were cut by hand with a jig saw. I cut big and sanded to size. I use drills and sanding drums at intersecting angles for perfect radii. On the wedges, I used a belt sander then a coat of black paint to watch where I sanded, then sanded, then painted,etc. The same way a body man uses guide coat. I even started my screw holes small so I could adjust them a little bit either way. I'm kind of a perfectionist. My wife has another name for it, but I dont want to get banned
