Default The BEST factory audio system I have ever heard...

Last Sunday, we went to the LA Concourse d'Elegance at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

The show was INSANE.

However, on display, with both doors open (suicide ) was a new Rolls Royce Phantom II.

It had, by and far, one of the most impressive audio systems I have ever heard - be it factory or aftermarket.

It is a 7.1 surround system, made by Lexicon. There are 9 separate amps and 15 speakers. I don't know the arrangment, but the sound is just stunning. The bass is so front and center, I honestly don't know where the subs are, but the salesman informed me they are in enclosures behind the back seat. The imaging was so accurate...

and for SoCal folks, all he had on was Jack FM!!! Jack FM, much like the other Jacks across the country, plays a very random mix. But from my estimations, they have one of the BEST transmitters I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. The compression is perfect as is the channel separation.

I guess for a $380k car, the audio should be special, but this was exceptional. I would guess if someone took that to a USAC sound off, it would win SQ. It was that nice.

hm... the electro-static ones? no... they do all the digital sound processing stuff.

If anyone has a chance to visit a R-R dealer, do so, and sample the audio. Just act rich.

I agree, my dad has a 2004 Volvo XC70 and I am very impressed every time I listen to that stereo. It doesn't have a huge amount of super low bass, but the mids and highs are real nice, the mid bass has a nice kick to it, and the soundstage is very good too.

Not really. For a factory sound system it is phenomenal, compared to anything "decent" aftermarket...it is very mediocre at best

I didn't qualify the Lexus system. It is very nice... for factory.

It's just that the Rolls system is exceptional. Period. It actually had mid range response.

Some more info, courtesy of Autoweek.

The subs are under the front seats. The speaker enclosure in the rear is a speaker array of some sort that fills the rear deck area.

Buddy of mine has an S60R, the speakers are Dynaudio. Very nice for factory, but definitely lacking in midbass.

Lexicon makes some great processors, would love to hear that Rolls system.
