Default How to tell its a BOSE

Hey ya'll,
I just purchased a 05 vette and have no idea what kind of radio it has, I want to install an AVIC-D3 but have no idea if the radio is a Bose or not. I assume it’s a non Bose because it’s single disc and pretty basic (can't play burned CDs for crap) but its gets crazy loud which is kind of weird for a "base" radio. Is there anyway to tell if it’s Bose or not? Thanks

Josh

No highs, no lows,
it must be Bose.

Easiest way is to look at your door speaker grille. It will have a Bose logo on it like this one if it's Bose:

Neither way will it have a yellow Kevlar Focal driver like this pic though.

No Bose logo, I guess the swap should be pretty straightforward with the standard GMCO adapter, thank you!

I believe the actual radio is made by Delphi. I have not seen where Bose makes the actual radio, but I hear they may start in the future. The speakers and amps are provided by Bose ( if it says Bose ). If it is not marked, it is likely some generic supplier with lowest bid to GM spec.

I am not sure which is worse, the Bose Amp/speakers or the Delphi radio.

I have yet to confirm it, but I honestly believe that my Non blose 05 silverado is in fact using the same crap uncoated paper drivers that the upgraded "blose" systems have, just with a low featured and powered HU. I need to post some pics on another forum to get confirmation .. but the drivers are so cheap I like my odds of being right

No highs, no lows, it must be bose is pretty accurate. Or lows and holes, it must be blose.

G'luck on the upgrade path

That's correct. None of the head units are Bose-branded. I believe the non-NAV units are actually Siemens not Delphi, the NAV unit is Denso. The non-Bose amp & speakers are Delphi, the Bose amp and speakers are branded Bose.
