Default What Gauge Wire for Amp

What gauge wire should I use for a Infinity Reference 5350A 5 Channel Amp. Should I go with 4 or 8 gauge power and ground?

I'm going to mount the amp on the back wall of a 99 coupe. Being that I only see grounding wires 3-5 feet that would not be enough to go to the B piller of the seat track for a good ground. Any other suggestions were I can get a good ground within 3 feet of the back wall?

8 gauge will handle it, but, do 4 gauge anyway - future expansion possibility.

Yes, you can run longer than 4'. Ideally the ground should be short as possible, but you can usually get away with longer.

I have used darvex.com for bulk wiring, connectors, etc.

Thats where going with a larger gauge wire helps. You can run a longer ground with a larger gauge

Thanks Guys....

One last questions, for now at least, what gauge wire should I use from the Amp to the speakers, 12 or 16 gauge speaker wire.

Thanks Dave. This will be my second major Audio mod to the wifes car. The head unit mod I did a couple of months ago looks easy compared to this one.

Hey at least it is giving me pratice before I do my Vert.

I dropped a ground down the right side bin and out to the frame.

There are small ground lugs back there, one on either side up on the frame next to the mufflers. If I had my camera, I'd take a snapshot and post it for ya.

Thanks Mark. When I get ready to install the amp I'll be sure to look on the under side for a grounding point. I take it you had to drill a hole for the ground wire to get it there.
