That's what I was thinking... The reviews kind of rag on the nav a little bit, but give high marks to everything else, including the screen clarity. It's mother's day, so I'm a little busy with the wife, but maybe later tonight or tomorrow, I'll try a photochop just to get an idea...
This might be a serious contender for those of us who like the idea of the built-in nav, without having to modify the bezel and all that. The blue backlights would also match the C5 interior lights nicely... Street price of less than $700? Hmmmm. I even like how it looks when it's turned off...
I've been following the 1DIN nav threads for a bit too - I've spoken to a couple of folks about a 2DIN mod to the dash, but I'm not sure about the refinish. I'd kind of like to be able to stay stock with the center control or maybe do a full carbon replacement from Vette Essentials.
I realize the display is a touch small, but the features seem outstanding (I still need to research the IPOD integration - that's SUPER important). I was wondering, if you could match up a 1/2 (0.5) DIN sized flip up screen with one of these newer 1DIN HU's?
Then you could have when wanted/needed a nicer larger display (like for movies and whatnot) or stick with the more compact configuration for just cruising around. It was also be 1.5DIN total (I did that math all on my own)
Some good new options becoming available!
Thanks to all the posters, I'm off to research this a little more!
I found a 1/2DIN motorized 7" display - this is pretty cool, I think a popup larger display for movies on road trips and other the integrated 3.5" screen of the NX5000 is a slick combo.

Plus no dash rebuilding/refinishing!

that would be nice, just not sure how well it would fit since the jvc is a bit oversided
I just installed the Kd-avx2 precurser to 5000. I will post pics later. Its a little obtrusive looking but has a clean look that I can get used to. With the right install kit it looks descent.

I really want to see how this looks. I think these units are a great way to get all the features without going to a double din. How does it sound with your factory speakers?
So far it seems to sound pretty good I do notice that it is a bit cleaner. Almost like the sound from the old Bose in the C4's. Real crisp less muddy than factory, which was happy. I had my reservations about the sound quality of JVC from previous JVC deck in my toyota. It suprised me it sounds pretty good. I do not think you will be disappointed
I took pictures of it but left my camera in my car. And I park it in a storage down the road because I live in a loft without reasonable parking. I will get my camera tomarrow and post pics of how it looks.
I found that it looks pretty good with the GMK-440 install kit. I bought the soundgate harness as well.
Here are the pics I promised the angular shot is blured, but shows how much it will portrude out. With GM interior being bulky plastics it seems to workout. The ABS plastic of the GMK-440 kit matches the door handle plastic. Overall the install required the GMCRV1, and a stinger antenna adapter.
