OK. This site is a double edged sword.
Good edge:I found the exact answers, thanks to you all, to what I need and want to do to my sound system.
Bad edge: I ran across all this sound deading stuff
What Im doing: double din with Boston Coustic SL60 components in doors. 1 flush mount 12" box in rear compartment. 1 4 channel amp for it all.
Question:
1: will it be that bad without edead?
2: while I have my doors apart, I will probably do the edead material, but what can I do to keep it very minimal on doors and rear cargo area. I read Kale's write up on edead, liquid, and the foam stuff but dont think I want to go that far due to weight, and time consumed?
In a minimalists eyes, can I live without the liquid??? and what would be the minimum needs?
Complete sound deadening isn't absolutly nessicary unless you're a total audio guru. Doors and the rear storage bins are important.
I also reccomend acoustic absrbtive foam. (aka closed cell foam) This is sold by secondskinaudio.com and B-quiet.com. The foam is very light compared to the deadener material (liquid or mat style) and is essential for vehicles with aftermarket exhaust.
IMO and ive dont alot of cars, is the main areas are just behind the speaker and where the baffle mounts to the door, doing the whole car isnt necessay IMO
