Default Ok, please don't yell at me!

Or tell me to read the FAQ section. I've installed a Pioneer DEPH-6900UB head unit. I just want to install nice door and rear speakers. I don't want to use component speakers. I'm not going to use a external amp or woofer etc. Any suggestions on what speakers? I'm more into listening to my headers and Corsa exhaust. But it would be nice to have some tunes. I'm more interested in taking the money for a killer system and putting that into a nice set of wheels. Thanks for any info. David

If you're going to go un-amped, look for speakers with a high sensitivity rating. Alpine's SPS series coaxial speakers have a 92dB rating when last i checked. I ran these in my truck off an aftermarket head unit and they were excellent for their intended purpose.

I like the Alpine type S coaxials. I listened to some the other day on a sound board. Much more full and realistic sound than Infinity, Sony, etc.

Default Un-amped door speakers

I was the same. It was more due to space restrictions in the Vette though (I only have one amp in there for the sub).

I put in the Type S Alpine 6x9 speakers in the doors. I was concerned about too much bass in the front, but a quick radio adjustment to bass levels evens out everything nicely. Mids and highs are excellent, and my 50 watt max Alpine deck drives them with no problems. I put a set of 5 1/4s in the back also. Sounds great.

Modern deck power has gotten a lot better, for sure.

Thank you for the ideas. I think I'm going to go with 6x9s in the doors and 5 1/4's in the back. We have his and hers C5's that's one of the reasons why I don't want to get too complicated. They don't get driven enough It's time to start driving them and enjoying them. The 03' has 16000 on it, we bought it with 14000 a year ago. The 04' has 7000 miles on it. We bought that two years ago used with 700 miles on it. David

Default 6x9s...

If you're going to go with 6x9s, I have a tracing of the 1/4 inch plexiglass speakerplates I made for the doors, if you're interested. Took me quite a while to finalize the profile, so it might save you some time. I could scan it and send it.

Let me know if you need it.

I have a set of Alpine SPS-13C2 for sale. (5.25 inch). Actually I sold the 6.5" ones (SPS-17C2) to Kale. $50 shipped to your door.
