Default **Pioneer Avic Z1 install - NO AM **

I just installed the Pioneer Avic Z1 and I do not have any AM channels.
The FM channels work. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get the AM channels?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you sure you got the antenna connected properly? FM stations regularly come in better with no antenna, AM stations NEVER. Double check your antenna. Did you use the GM antenna adapter?

I used the adapter and I checked the connections and they looked good.

I cannot hear any music at all on AM.

if its a c5 coupe, you need to get the 5 volt line to the antenna booster box, do a search antenna coupe and you should be able to find some info about it

Thanks pentavolvo,

I did the search and I understand what needs to be done by adding a power supply for a cell phone charger to suppy 5v to the pink wire. Is there any other way to hook into the 12v green wire and reduce it to
5v to splice into the pink wire without the cell phone charger?

I remember seeing this referred to in the past (probably by you). I have a vert and recently had the back gutted for an insulation install and don't recall seeing anything like this. Did I miss it or was this only on other models? I don't want to have the same problem whne I install my Kenwood DNX7100 in a couple weeks.

Thanks

This should get it done for ya:

It's quick & dirty, but for your purpose I think it will work.

Thanks for the info. How do you install the voltage regulator? Do I need to split the red wire at the antenna module and splice in the voltage regulator to the pick wire? How do you splice into the voltage regulator (three leads)? I also read you may need to heat sink the voltage regulator. Can you give me some additional information?

Thanks in advance.
