Default Looking for the best round 10" that is a single 4 ohm or 8ohm

I plan on using four of these on one Xtant 1001e amp. I would also like the 10 to require a small box like .5 CF ea. I prefer these not to be too heavy, I dont want to give up too much driving performance in the vette!

There are a lot of subs that meet this. WHat is your budget? Image dynamics are good, ed, and kicker come to mind. scott mentions a brand that i can never remember the name of. Maybe he will chime in.

I didn't mean my statement to discredit your post. It's just my personal preference. The owner of a major car audio store lives next door to me and has told me all about the other brands. He uses his JL audio subs to hold his back door open at his house. He says diamond audio is by far the best subs he has ever had the oppertunity to sell. There are only a select amount of stores licenced to sell diamond audio. They are not even allowed to be sold online. Althought people still do it. I have owned diamond audio subs and amps since I have had a car. If at anytime there equipment fails they will send you a brand new stuff. I drilled a hole in my sub on accident, called diamond audio and they gave me a brand new one for free. The sub was over 3 years old. They are the best in customer service. they are not cheap by any means. But well worth the price. you know allot more about car audio than i do but I was just spreading some love for diamond audio.

I'm a Diamond Audio fan myself, but I don't know about them being the "best". I do know they are built better than JL and to me sound better.

My post didn't have much credit to begin with and your reply was more then enough to back up your original post. I have no issues with people saying that a particular component is 'the best' since most everything in this hobby is based on opinion. I just wanted to clear up the post for the OP so he could make more of an educated decision.

This is one of the best subs you can buy, period. just put one of these in your vette and it will outperform any 3 10" subs at the weight / impedence you're looking at. I promise you that. I would even buy the sub from you if you werent highly impressed with the sound from just one of these bad boys.

Diamond Audio is sweet! I have a Diamond amp. When money gets right, I plan on upgrading my sub to Diamond. I refuse to change my speaker locations, so those will remain Memphis. A guy I know plugged a D6 12 into an outlet. It took 30 minutes to fry the sub...after tripping the breaker once. Well built, good warranty, excellant customer service, and an overall great sounding speaker. Car audio is only a fraction of what the company does. They are huge in concert equipment. IIRC the Beastie Boys were the first to ask Diamond to build them a concert speaker since they kept blowing what they had. After that, other's wanted the same.

Thought I should mention. Diamond doesn't has a cheap foam surround. I have held a D6 12, using 2 fingers, by the surround. They are very tough speakers. The sub is too heavy for me to try that using one finger.

The Diamond Audio, and Orion are nice but I beleive they both have ferrite magnets suggesting that they are typically too heavy. I'm looking for a light weight sub that has a neodimium magnet. Also, Im looking for subs with a single 4 or 8 ohm voice coil and have optimum FR in up to a 1/2 CF ea. in a sealed box. I'm not interested, at all, in a sub that can handle a monster amount of power. Instead an efficient one that will handle a moderate amount of power. SQ is more important and more challenging to me than all-out SPL. With four subs on one mono 1000 watt amp @ 1 or 2 ohms, I need a sub that will perform the best with these parameters. I have been looking at the low profile Pioneer and the Earthquake brands and would like to have some input on these. I appreciate your suggestions!
