Garmin Nuvi 350 Volume

The Nuvi 350 has a plug-in for ear piece, would it be possible to utilize that plug-in for an external speaker? With the windows down & listening to music I find sometimes I cannot understand what is being said by the 350? Thanks Major Hal

I have the 660, with the windows down there is no way that I can understand the unit using the internal speaker. to the best of my knowledge the ear peace plug is for that only, if you could do it the speakers would need to be powered, or directly plugging into the Aux input of your radio, I know how to do this on a C5 but not on a C6 you may want to look at http://www.garmin.com/support/ and see if they have a way. The C6 radio doesn't have a simple way to get an AUX input to it without pulling the unit. I believe there's a link in the audio FAQ at the top of this section with instructions on how to get it done. It would seem something like the Peripheral Electronics PXGM24 should work.

If you don't want crack open the dash you could use one of the many wireless FM modulators that are sold mainly as iPod adapters. You plug that into the Garmin and a cigarette lighter and tune in a frequency on the radio. The quality ain't great and as you're travelling around you can run into interference as you change arears where different stations are on different frequencies, but I'd guess for your purpose this would get the job done.

Basically they just said "blah blah blah blah we don't support it beyond the fact that there's an output." My recommendations still stand.

I was thinking the same thing but it would require you to stay on that FM station all the time.....boring....
Just a thought... would it be possible to splice directly into the drivers side door speaker? Not sure how this would work since the gain (volume) would be different from the head unit.

I think you have just about a no win situation. I do not think the Garmin will drive a speaker without an external power supply ( Mine will not ) to the speaker to drive it. Best Buy or Radio Shack may be able to help but you will need a space to put this speaker and a power source for it unless you can find a speaker that is battery operated much like what we use on our Pc's. The FM transmitter will work BUT the ones I have used put out not good sound and by the time the Garmin wakes up the transmitter, the transmitter wakes up the radio you have missed the first two + words. As the C6 does not have an easy way to hook up the AUX input of the radio ( so I am told ) here is what I would do. Look in the yellow pages for an after market radio store. Ask if they can pull the radio and install a small switch that will allow you to externally change between two input sources to the radio, have them install a input plug that will go between the Garmin output and the new switch. I did this on my GMC Envoy for $150.00 and it works great. The manual switch allows me to switch the input from XM to the Garmin.
