question about disconecting stock head unit in C6 will it cause problems

I have an 06 with the stock single disc in dash player. I purchased a factory 6 disk in dash player from a forum member. Can I simply uplug mine and plug his in? Or will I have problems when I disconnect mine and try to reinstall the new one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You will have problems because of VIN locking. The computer in the car talks to the radio and the radio won't run if it gets the wrong ID back. Get your receipt and see if your dealer knows how to re-program it to match your VIN. Skill with this varies WILDLY from dealer-to-dealer. The receipt is important to show you bought it legitimately - the VIN locking is an anti-theft/insurance rate measure.

Otherwise, electrically and fit-wise it should install and work just fine.
