Default Focal 165K2P?

I have a freind who is selling these for $400.00, there about six month old. He replaced the Focals with the Diamond D9s. I think I already know the answer, but is this a good deal?

Thanks

Seems like a good price IF he purchased them from an authorized dealer and they have serial numbers attached. If not it would only be an OK deal at best IMO.

If they are the real deal they are tough to beat for $400, especially if you like a more aggressive sound in your midrange and highs.

They're $600 on the gray market (woofersetc) so even if you don't like them you can do no worse even money on eBay. I personally am an enormous fan of Focal, but speakers are very individual in taste, as can be witnessed by pentavolvo's opinion vs mine. Your ears are what matters, trust what you hear, ALWAYS.

He's a good freind and he bought them at Paradyme Car Audio in Sac. Six month later he got a killer deal on the D9's ($250.00 - employee purchase) that's why he pulled the Focals. I'll try them out this weekend to see if I like them.

Thanks for the replies!

D9's for $250? Damn that is a hell of a deal. I would actually consider running those for that price, good drivers with a great set of passives with it. Tell him I want a set of those for $300

An ex employee from that store told me about the employee discounts. It makes me want to quit my job and go work there for a while.

That deal for the D9s was over before I could get in on it.

In terms of the Focal components, I've used Focals in the past, but the ones I used were for home audio and that was back in the early 90's when I was in really into all the IASCA shows. I had them bi-amped and if the 165K2Ps sound anything like I remembered, I should like them.
