Default Crossover question

I have a set of Infinity 6010cs. It has one extra screw on the Crossover marked -3db. What is that for? The manual says nothing.

Thanks

u can either connect the positive lead of the tweeter to the tweet positive or the -3db it pulls down the level of the tweeter making it less harsh. Just put it at the -3db now and save yourself the hassle of messing with it later.

It's on p. 4 of the instructions, in the section on connecting the wires to the crossover.

I see that, but it does not say what it does. It just tells you what the screw is, that is why I asked what it does as far as sound quality

It depends on the position you mount the tweeter. Most of the time time in these small cabins you're better off using it as the tweeters will be relatively close to your ears. Pulling them down 3db is a good idea. My Focal components in my C6 have -3 and -6 on the Xover and I'm going to have to pull the door panel off to go to -6 on the front tweets. They're at -3 now and it's just too much.

Thanks for the advise. I mounted the tweets right above the mid, in the center of the panel. So the -3db looks like a good idea. Thanks

Which part of "To reduce tweeter output level, connect the positive (+) tweeter wire to the -3dB terminal" (p4, 6010cs manual) do you fail to understand?

Thats ok Scott. If someone could read, I asked in a later post about sound quality, not what it does.
