Default Wicked System install: Chapter III - grim reaper of outside noise

I'm almost finished with the first part of sound deadening. I started with a preliminary layer of dynamat extreme (thanks to all who posted pics of their dynamat installs here, it helped me tremendously)

The cargo area was a pain (mostly because i spend most of the time hunched over sitting in my cargo compartment with my feet in the main cargo area and the glass roof impeading my airspace. (at least it's almost finished)

Turns out i more dynamat than i thought. I'm going to go ahead and use the rest on the floor as much as I can. I used Second Skin's damplifier pro for the doors (turned out to be a better value per square fot for better material and i bought the dynamat first cause i didnt' know this)

here's the door panel:

the door itself (inner and outer door coated)

still have to do the passenger door and the floors. After that, i'm laying down the super foam (marine-grade closed-cell foam with double skins) it's not the best looking stuff in the world, but in preliminary tests, it kills sound like no other.

more pics to come

Flyer,

Be careful when using the Second Skin on the inside of your doors. I got both the deamplifier pro and dynamat extreme in my V and the deamplifier started to peel from the inside of my rear doors (I had ran out of extreme so I used the pro) I removed the pro and put extreme in it's place and it has stuck perfect. I had also cleaned the inside of the door skin very well so that wasn't it. I honestly don't think anything sticks as well as the extreme. On flat surfaces (like the floor and hatch) I think the pro works great but if I were doing the doors I would use extreme. Just my 2 cents.

Are you going to use any foam to block noise?

he said hes gonna use some kind of marine foam? havent heard of it yet around these parts. interested to see how it will work for ya.

I know exactly what you are talkin about with deadening the trunk area. Try doing it in a z. ugh, my knees and back and neck. and lets not get started with how bad it hurts the rotator cuffs. my shoulders killed me for days. but its so worth it in the end. Good job so far. its looking as good as sound deadening can.

left door finished:

and floors:

i had a little more material than i thought and i have (4) 2x3' sheets leftover. I did 3 layers in the doors (inner, outer and door panel) the cargo area, the panel behind the seats and the floors.

question, where do you think the last 4 sheets should go or should i sell them?

i'd put the extra on anything that you tap and it still resonates :-) otherwise, save the weight and the money and sell it.
