C3 Radio am/fm tape no good

I have a 74 C3 the am/fm works but the tape portion of the radio went belly up on me.The face plate comes off ,are there any after market radios that will fit? Or is this something that you have to go to the catalogs for? Started to finish up the heater core repair then one thing leed to another.now I'm wondering about the radio,going to try the local radio electronics store later this week when I"M off or am I wasting my time? mine sucks too. i have a 75. i can't find any good radio that'll fit in the dash without cuttin it. so what i'm gonna do is get a detachable faceplate cd=player, and mount it in the back, and i'm gonna run computer ribbon wire and wire the faceplate up the the front dash. or, all the vette catalogs sell custom autosound radios. i might go with one of those too. or, if you arent that interested in sound quality, cheap shaft-style radios can be found at radio shack, of your local autosound place for under 50 bucks. have fun
