Default were to mount amps in a vert??

i have a 2000 vert. i mounted a piece of 1/2 plwood under the carpet in the back. i currently have 2 rf amps screwed to the plywood. i really like to make a nice box for all the stuff, but since the vert top comes down and rests almost on top of the amps i have no room to make a nice box. i also have a 1farad cap, 4 crossovers and a 6 disk cd changer back there. any pics of what you guys are doing with c5 verts? my system consists of a alpine 7998 head unit, 200amp alt, all 0 gauge, one 4 channel rf amp, one huge rf mono channel amp, 12 in 2000 watt rf sub, cds componenets and a 1farad cap. i see some nice setups in here that make mine look like ****, but you really cant see any of mine cause the vert top hides it all

why dont you cut holes on the bottome of that 1/2 plywood so the amps can stick through and the bottoms of the amps would be flush with the bottom of the wood. you can then screw it to the bottom side of the plywood and gain yourself a 1/2" for the top of your box

here are a couple versions of my system:

option 2 may be not to use a cover for the box but just make a raised facade and have the amps 'flush mounted' here is an example from my old system:

i laid the plywood in the car, put the rug over it, then screwed the amps right to the plywood to save height. then i just made a cover for the top. i cant make a real box because of the height issues. those exposed amps look nice scott

how about replacing the 1/2" ply with some 1/8" ply or hardboard and some of those huge washers (forgot the name of them) that'll give you the security and also help with your height issues. other then where we have our amps right now, there isn't a lot of other options. i'm suprised that your amps are too high. my false floor fits under the top without a problem.
