it still lacks directional arrows and a true rear antenna.

Didn't Escort add a bogey counter in the 8500?

I have to say that is one god awful looking unit! And people say the V1 is ugly. Also I dont like the buttons on the top, is a pain when you mount it up high or under the rearview mirror as there is no room between.

I agree, it looks like crap and it is still lacks features that the Valentine One has.

I don't care what it looks it's missing V1's arrows but all the new features have me thinking about getting one.
• TrueLock feature that permanently eliminates false alerts by location and frequency
• Autosensitivity Mode provides real-time radar performance based on vehicle speed, plus Highway and City settings
• SpeedAlert feature provides an instant view of your vehicle speed during an alert
• Mark Location feature allows you to instantly “mark” known speed traps, cameras and other places of interest
• Voice announcements provide instant audible feedback for easier programming
• Auto Volume feature automatically increases the alert volume in noisy conditions such as a loud radio or road noise
• Easy to use Preferences allows you to customize up to nine features
• Ultra Bright Alphanumeric display with 280 LEDs
• Expert Meter tracks and displays up to eight radar signals simultaneously
• Spec Display provides actual numeric frequency for any radar signal
• Selectable radar and laser bands (on/off) allow you to customize which bands are being monitored (X band, K band. Ka band. Ku band, Laser, POP, SWS)
• Allows you to backup your Truelock data and other software related functions

Anyone know how many locations you can mark with it? Sounds like a great feature.

I keep looking online and at their website for an answer but haven't found one.

??

I have heard that you can mark 5000 spots with it.

There are big problems with the new Escort 9500i and the majority of people are returning them because of less range than the Valentine One and the 8500X50.

http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=22803

They are locking out signals from door openers and the 9500i is not alerting to cops that shoot radar in that area. Owners of the 9500i are also complaining that signals that they lock out are not staying locked out from the day before. They also say that their Sirius/XM radio is cutting out because of the 9500i and its GPS function.

I love my V1 and wouldn't settle for anything less. Hearing all the problems of the 9500i really make me not want to get one. V1 can be upgraded at anytime too.

Well now...I just trashed my Escort 9500i direct mail piece. I'll keep my 8500 X50/blue for awhile. It's saved my b_tt countless times, except once, and that all it takes, just once. I was in my former C5 and got nailed when the speed limit went from 45 to 25 mph. Not one bleep from my Escort. My good buddy/lawyer/multi-twnshp prosecutor, told me that the "speed detectors" used, do not always activate your unit. Plus, he told me it was a good choice I made, not to ask the officer to see the speed device he used. Long story, short...he just wanted to bang a vette, instead of the other vehicles that were going faster than me. My HUD showed 32 mph when he punched his lites on. He wrote the tic for 53 mph. The judge doesn't believe in the "no points ticket", but downgraded it to 2 pts. Now, I'm extra careful when I cruise around. I still enjoy the new C6 400hp with Z51 and clock the gears only when absolutely safe.
