Default Basic C4 Bose system replacement Q (first of many)

At the moment I am planning to soon replace my Bose with an Alpine deck, changer and an amp to run the current Bose speakers which I will use until my budget allows a good set of components and a sub (or two).

I just read elsewhere that you cannot run the Bose speakers with an aftermarket setup without the expensive adapters. Is this true or could I wire the amp up directly to the Bose speakers without the adapter?

TIA

you need the adapters. Even with the adaptors, they sound bad.

The adapters for the Bose system allow you to connect an aftermarket source to the factory amps. This will not help you to use an aftermarket amp. The factory Bose speakers have a 1 ohm voice coil, and most aftermarket amps are not stable at 1ohm. Sony makes a 4-channel amp that is 1 ohm stable, but that would not be my choice. You would be better off replacing the speakers when you install the head unit and changer, and hold off on the amp until your budget allows.
