Bose in 86 Acting Up

When I hit certain bumps the sound goes softer and after a bit I hit another bump it goes back to normal. Also, sometimes when I first start the car it takes awhile before I get any digital read out on on radio face. Any suggestions?

Do what I did.. replace it with a completely new stereo system -=\

Give the unit a drop test. Take it out and
Step 1: Drop it.
Step 2: Check to see if it is in multiple pieces. If not, repeat step 1.

This may take a few minutes but the satisfaction gained is well worth the results. Actually, you have a 17 year old sterio in your car. Its about as good as a 17 year old TV. Do you have one of those? Technology has progressed no matter what the current NASDAQ index might leave you to believe. For $5-600 you could definitely upgrade. Bass is more and more tricky but definitely cool.
