Yes, you are absolutely right. Magnuson & Moss Warranty Act. This applies to the factory warranty. And this law favors the consumer if he has the resources to take a dealer to court if needs be.
But in any case,
GMPP isn't factory warranty, it's more like an insurance policy and part of the insurance policy is that it is void if the vehicle is modified in any way.

Actually, I don't see anything in there about mods at all, except that they don't cover failure of, or related to.
It must be Warranty Direct that I'm thking of, that's so cavalier about voiding aftermarket warranties.
