Default 01 z06 audio help

Hi, i'm having a little trouble with getting a new head unit installed in my car. Best buy is saying I need an Interface (which they have for $150) in order for a new head unit to be put in the car. I went to the Crutchfield store and they said it can be done without, but i will lose the two 8in speakers in my door. Which route is everyone taking or are both of these places wrong? Thanks for the help.

read the c5 faq so you will understand what the install places are trying to sell you and what you actually need. that being said, you do need that interface that best buy is talking about. Crutchfield is correct too, but i wouldn't recommend going that route

if you go the route of not powering the 8 inch door subs, you are better off just gutting the stock speakers and geting components and amp and sub. to keep the the stock speakers you do need that expensive adapter

see if you can find one cheaper on ebay or here in the parts section, or in the audio section here as well

I agree with Dave, just gut the POS Blose speakers! I sold them on eBay for a hundo and went with components.

yea i sold my stock door speakers on ebay for 150. its probably not worth it trying to sell them here since a lot of people are trying to get rid of them in the first place. ebay got rid of my stock stuff quick.

Oh and you might be better off guting the blose right off the bat. I thought i would be happy with just changing one component, but I ended up gutting it all. Im a lot happier now. Just do some research and listen to a lot of stuff before you buy and you will be set. I know it seems like we are always trying to push people to gut the bose off the bat, but a lot of times people come back here and say they've had it with the bose after changing something and then just go ahead and change it all. Just trying to save you some headaches.

i loved the progression you made. it was fun seeing you go through 3 systems in what seemed like a matter of weeks.

@ Scott.
Hey bro save me your mold for your door enclosures and send me a couple to play with my eu's! haha

Finish your system slacker. I am about 2 weeks away from having my second version completed and you have not finished your new one yet.
