Upgrade head unit in C5?
I have an '01 Coupe, I bought 10 months ago, with the famous Delco Bose audio system. I'm fairly happy except that I miss MP3 playabilty of my previous unit.
However, I really like the feature that automatically increases audio volume at higher speeds & I'm not sure I want to give that up.
I'm limited in funds but I have $100 in Best Buy coupons. I'm looking at a either the SONY 50-Watt x 4-Channel Satellite Radio-Ready CD Deck CDXGT210 or JVC 50-Watt x 4-Channel iPod/Satellite Radio-Ready CD Deck KDG320; both these head units that Best Buy sells play MP3, in the $100-150 range installation included. (Sony is $100, JVC is $120.)
I've read that some folks have had problems with audio upgrades; not sure if this is specific to speaker upgrades or head unit upgrades as well?
Any head units that do MP3 & have the feature that automatically increases volume at higher speeds? Or is that unique to this Delco HU?
Suggestions & advice?

I just came from Best Buy. Their extra charge, above & beyond "standard installation included" is $160!

160 thats outrageous in all honesty... buy the radio and then get the extra parts you need online and do the install on your own its not that hard, there is a full writeup in the C5 FAQ, try some smaller shops say look I have a vette and a radio i got as a gift (which is why u didnt buy it from them) and was wonderin how much for install it should be wayyyy less

I saw some nice HU that not only do MP3 CD but also have a USB port for a USB drive to be inserted; JVC - $160.

Its hard to say every shop is differnet, first off you need to order the bose adapter to interface your radio (i dont remeber part num off hand but i can find it for you). Then if you wanna do it urself just get an antenna adapter and dash kit really not that hard of an install. Otherwise I wouldnt pay over 60-70 for an install. Part of that 160 is them raping you for a dash kit wiring harness antenna adapter and some othe stuff and for the installer not really knowing how to do a vette. I know at my store we only charged an extra 20 bucks as long as u had the soundgate bose adapter already.
If you want sweet with the usb check out kenwoods on sonicelectronix.com they have amazing usb controls. If i was in florida I would do the install for you.
Feel free to ask more questions I can almost walk you through the install
