Yes I am back...thanks for the welcome. As for the car it is on jack stands in the garage with no interior, no body panels, and part of the motor missing. It has been that way for a while now. I have not had time to work on it. I did get the batteries done and will post some pics of that soon as I get a chance. I am just about caught up and not slammed with SEMA this year. Car will be back soon and it is going to be very over the top.

Why did you gut such a wonderful work of art and sound?

Since you have lots of used stereo equipment laying around and taking up your valuable space I, as your friend , will give you $10 plus S/H for all of it.

the install is finally coming along. I'm getting pretty involved with sq. i sold the pxa-h701 since i didn't like the cluttered center console and the aftermarket look that it gave me. I have 2 different soundcards, a purpose built (to my specs) usb dac and i finally decided not to use any of them! I decided to go with a zapco DAII-sl dac since it take digital coax input (from the computer) and has balanced outputs. then from that i'll go into a phaze audio ldx-23 active x-over with fully balanced inputs and outputs (remember a few months back ago when i was bugging you about an x-over with balnaced outputs?...finally found some ). then i have two phaze td1500 amp (150wrms x2) for the frontstage and a zapco ref 500.1 amp for the sub. now i'm trying to make all that equipment look stock(ish)!! OH...and i have a suprise for everyone with my console...if it comes out nice!

if you want to go the dac route too, i have a great lead on a crystal eval board (fully built) that is a true 24/192 dac and supposed to sound amazing. He wants only $250 for it too.

as for dual computers... for your car? you want to be able to play video games too, don't you? i'll have to research a bit but those new dual boot mac mini's may be up your alley (booting in windows of course ) i'm not sure about the power and shutdown controllers for those though. also they have those mini-itx p4 boards that will run off the m2-atx power supplies. that may work for you too.

Scott...man that sounds sweet. Not two computers for one car I have two cars that need computers....well actually three but one will wait. I found a few places making already built car computers but I need to get some more info. I have been so backed up with other projects I have not had a chance to do any research.

I wish I had pics of an alluminum and 1" plexi floating amp rack I made for another shop. I think you would have liked it.

What's up EG?

This may be old news to you guys, but have you seen this?

http://minipc.aopen.com/us/

It's available as barebones from alot of places, but Tigerdirect does 'em as pre-configured as well. It's basically laptop parts in a chassis.

Nice to "meet" ya Randy.

ah yes, the aopen. somepeople are using that with good results. eatrice. if you're nto down to build the computer yourself i'd look into the prebuilt mp3car.com systems. if you are into building the computer, i'd definately stick wtih the via epia line since there is a strong support community for them.

That sounds like "not good." Or at least for the purpose.

I only stumbled across that because I was hunting down something for my Mom to use for e-mail and was thinking of burying that in the kitchen with an LCD TV.

oh no...it is a 'good' i think... i just dont have any experience with them so i'm not sure. the main issue (for me at least) is powering them and how to shut them down via the ignition.
