Default neon lights OR Led's under my c4

I'm thinking of installing some lighting under the car, just for some night shows here in my area, my car is millinium yellow color, and has gx effects, for space purpose, I don't think neons will be in the subject unless I used small thin ones. But I am curious as to using leds--which are the brightest and which color would look good with a yellow car---this is just for a once in awhile show look, Not for every night driving-just to let the bashers know.. Just wanting to do the exterior underside only, incase anyone else has done this, I tried searching but found VERY little info

use wedge LEDs, the ones made for driving light replacements. Go with blue.

That said, I commend your bravery for posting this here, and I'm getting out before the stones start flying.

wedge leds ? I remember looking under my car and with the gx effects there is NO room for long bulbs on sides nor in rear, but I'm sure I can squeeze leds, just not sure which leds are the brightest and longlasting

search led's on ebay. They come in all brightnesses and a few sizes. You could get some 3/8" clear water tubing from home depot and string them inside of it. Unless you can find them in the christmas or holloween isle already done it sounds like a lot of work.

i was thinking about adding some white cold cathode tubes under my car near the doors. i'd have them hooked up so they light up when the doors open so i can see if there is any mud where i'm stepping :-)

have you looked into cold cathodes? check out www.oznium.com they ahve a great selection of led's, neon's, and cold cathodes.

Don't let the haters get to you. I have small red neons in my side gills and red reverse effect neon around my rear tag (very subtle). This is on a black C5. Interior will be blacklight LEDs and I'm looking at electroluminescent strips for the amps and for the underside.

EL is quite dim, which is exactly the effect I am looking for - nothing in your face like cold cathode, neons or LEDs.

It's your car - trick it out how you want to.

EG
p.s. I also have a "Type R" sticker on the back of my car...

How did you put in the lights behind the gills??

Im thinking lights on mine as well, and I really like the idea of some lights turning on when I open the doors. Im currently in the process of trying to change out all of the lights in the interior from orange to blue. Only done a couple so far, still trying to learn more about some of the dash lights.

I used 6 inch neons, low wattage stuck with exterior double sided tape to the inside of the fenders behind the gills. You can't see the tubes, just the glow, which is quite subtle.

See video for the effect at night

Scott, where are you getting your EL from? I'm always looking for new vendors.

Thanks

Stephen
