My filename conversion program is done. I just need to test it. I will provide source for those who wish to inspect it.

I may add a burning utility to the program that allows you to select which songs you want to add to an CD. It will be easier than find/drag/drop/burn in windows, and way less overhead than iTunes or other programs. The interface won't be fancy, but will be very clear and easy to understand for the digitally challenged.

This will take me a couple days worth of lunch time programming. Maybe Monday next week it will be ready?

Do any of the 06 Nav units have a problem playing MP3 disks? I tried a couple of MP3 CD-Rs that play fine in my 2003 Ranger, but they don't play in my 2006 vette.

I thought I read somewhere that 05s need a software update to play MP3s. What about 06?

OK! I followed the edirections step by step and still came up with nothing.
I have an MP3 disc with 80 songs on it that I got from a friend and want to be able to play in my Vette.
I copied them to a folder on my Desktop.
Made sure all the titles had less than 32 characters.
Created 5 fiolders in "My Music" labeled a-e, 16 songs in each.
Dragged all of them to the Burner Disc Drive.
Burned them.
Wound up with only the first 15 songs and no info displayed on the screen.
Any ideas?

Why didn't you just copy the MP3 disc?

Or at least make sure that the original plays in your Vette.
Then make sure a copy that you make plays.

Maybe forget the folder idea. I just put all my files in the root directory. And since my file names start with the Artist, and they play in alphabetical order, it plays 'like' albums.
And the 32 character also isn't very important. The player just truncates the name if it's too long.

Well, now I'm halfway there.
I created a playlist in i tunes and copied all 80 songs to it.
I burned the MP3 disc in i tunes.
It plays all 80 songs in the car and displays the correct info for each.
The only thing screwed up now is the Track Select.
I scroll through it and select a track and a different track plays.
The track number for the track that is playing is correctly displayed, but I can't select the track I want. It just randomly picks something when I try to select a track.
Well, I guess its better than nothing.

I have this happening too. They were VBR, but I haven't decided yet if that is the problem... It seems to play around 3:30 befores switching to the next song.

I didn't know about the 32 char limit, so I just burned a new cd of MP3's I'm going to test.

With the longer filenames it did prevent some songs from being played BTW...

Okay I tested it. It was the 32 char limit causing the songs to skip to the next song in the middle of the current song (along with some songs not being played). It is NOT because they are variable bit rate.

BTW I used Lame and Nero to create the CD.
