Default Amplifier Question

Greetings all,

Here is the situation, my car does not have a stereo currently (previous owner cut the console for a sweet 8-track player) and I have since machined a cover and put switches and gauges in its place.

Does anyone know if you can run a signal for an MP3 player straight into a car amplifier (into low power RCA jacks) and drive the speakers from that?

Any help is appreciated.

I am out of my element here could you please explain the "line drive" and "clipping" the amp. Sorry, but I am an electronics dummy.

Thanks.

a line driver will boost the voltage of the output signal so that it is stronger, sometimes if the signal isnt strong enough its very easy to clip the signal basically sending dirty music to ur speakers
