I had a lil rattle in my doors when playing something with a lil bass. Unfortunately, I took my car to the dealer to have it fixed and what do you know. They made it WORST. Now anything that I play, doors rattle and dealership is saying quote" since you do not have the upgraded premium Bose audio system" this is how this stock setup will sound. I dont want to take it back now. How do I fix that, also the stock speakers are not really the best. So, I am thinking abt replacing those too, please give some suggestions. I have already searched and most of the threads are abt the bose system. I have an amphttp://www.mobileonesales.com/product_p/gm5000t.htm. Can I use this in the c6?

There's actually not alot in the door to rattle(yes, I know it's Bose but non-Bose are in same positions):
Some sound deadener behind the speakers may help.
As far as using the amp goes, there's a readily available low level signal from all the head units in the C6 so absolutely you can use that. Starting from scratch and using your own amp is best way to go, but it does involve alot of re-wiring, etc. You may have seen my write-up for my vert in the FAQ, but here's a link that will give you an idea of the scope of the project:
Short of starting over, some folks have reported good results just doing driver swaps. Leaving the "subs" in the doors and replacing the 3.5" in the door trim panels & dash, plus replacing the rears. The advantage the non-Bose has for this approach is that the rear channels are actually stereo.
Thanx for ur advice. Can you provide some more info abt "sound deadners".!! I am new to this kinda stuff.
Also, if I were to just replace the 3.5's, is it hard to get to the one in the dash?
I am thinking FO-cals for now or may be infinity's? Since Ive listened to them both (in home theatre setups though).
Also, would I still need the amp if I just replaced the 3.5's or can I do without it? Would it make any diff if I added it though?
Appologize for too many questions.
Do a search on eDead and Dynamat for info on sound deadeners. They are materials you apply to the door panels that absorb reflections.
The approach you take depends entirely on your goal. If you would be satisfied with moderate improvement - adding some highs, clarifying the mids - then swapping the 3.5" speakers in the door trim panels and dash plus 5.25"'s in the rear will get the job done. For that sort of project then an amp wouldn't be required. I am going to help install some Infinity Kappa 32.7 3.5" coaxials into a Bose system today and will post a thread on my perception of the swap. While it may be a Bose system I think it will give you a relative idea of what to expect from that sort of setup.
If your goal is a dramatic improvement then the only way to go is to scrap the whole system and start from scratch, including an amp. This will be far more expensive and extensive and since you have the base system you'd likely want to consider a head unit to get the absolute best results.
It's kinda like racing.. how fast you wanna go? How much money you got?
Deff deaden those doors it will make stock or new aftermarket sound better cut down on road noise and should help with any rattles. Check out edead from edesginaudio.com we also get a forum discount so its less expensive. Like komoman said you can go small or big its all up to what you want do u just want some cleaner sound or do u also want louder?
I dont really want to go LOUD. Just trying to get some quality and clarity. Dont really want to tear the whole car apart.
This eDead stuff, can I get it installed by a professional shop or something?
Are the rear stereo in my car? I thought somebody said they were mono..!!
Also, how hard it is to replace the speaker in the dash (I thought there was NO speaker in dash since I didnt get the bose?)? Can I put one in, if there isnt one there already?
Would it still help if I just added the amp with those 3.5"s and 5.25" speakers?
Edit: would I need any brackets just to replace the 3.5"s and the 5.25" ?
If you have a 1SA non Bose, replace the Siemens head unit, keep the Delphi amp and replace the the 3 1/2's and the 5 1/4's. I bought (2) sets of 3 1/2's and 1 set of 5 1/4's from Crutchfield.

you coudl pay someone to install the deadening but its actually a very DIY oriented project, to get it done right do it yourself, others will just half ass the install of it. I believe in non bose cars the rear speakers are stereo
Yep, that'll fit no problem, the 6.5" speakers I put in have a mounting depth of about 2.875" and Pioneer says 2.5" for that sub. IIRC when we put a tape measure in there with the window down you have nearly 4" of mounting depth, but that's off the top of my head.
To replace the 3.5" speakers in the trim panel with other 3.5's you would not need a mounting plate. For that 8" speaker you would for the door panel.

how abt the amp? Would I need to add one or I can keep everything else factory?

That's going to be a matter of personal preference. What you might want to do is drive everything off the stock amp at first and see how things sound. If there's not enough oomph for ya you can always add an amp later.
Take a breath and slow down... mine had the same problem and all I did was take the door panel off and ensure the 4 clips on the top were properly seated and the rattle was gone.
No need to change anything although you may want to change the 3.5" mids while you're in there to get some better high notes.

IMO the base system sounds better than the Bose.
Thanx a bunch for the advice. I will def make sure that the clips are seated properly. But, I just dont like the quality of sound, the system is producing right now. I have played songs that sound pretty good in my lexus but the whole feel is gone when playing in the vette.
Thats why I am going to replace the speakers with some better ones and may be eventually the hu as well.
